Heriot Watt University Converge Knowledge Exchange Project
The highly successful “Focus on the Future” strategy implemented by Heriot Watt University highlighted that “Heriot Watt is an engine of innovation, driving the knowledge-base economy in Scotland and in the UK”. An integral part of the Vision expressed in that document is: “in the next ten years, we will grow further the number of external collaborations, both with our partner universities, to ensure the best results from research collaborations, and with industry, to take forward the exchange of knowledge in ways that benefit business and the economy. Our ambition is to grow our commitment to user-focused research and leadership in industrial research”.
In real terms, the Converge Knowledge Exchange Project will allow Heriot Watt to engage actively with Scottish companies providing quick wins in problem solving for the companies and allowing development of longer term company growth plans underpinned by the world class research base at Heriot Watt.
This is an ambitious project designed to engage and pull together expertise in Business Development/Industry Relations, Company Support & Marketing and Communications coupled with a strand to enhance academic understanding and engagement with the issues faced by companies.
Encompassed under the banner of Knowledge Transfer, our team of Business Development and Enterprise Development specialists will have responsibility for providing an increased pro-active approach to local, national and international companies to ensure the development of long term and mutually beneficial relationships. The aim is to make Heriot Watt University a world leader in Knowledge and Technology Transfer and will support the following areas:

The PR and Outreach Team will raise international awareness of Heriot Watt and the excellence of its research and commercialisation activities. This will encourage public and industry interaction through international conferences and public engagement.
